Online sports betting is now a multi-billion-dollar industry. However, lucrative markets are missing out on sports wagering revenue. The good news is that New York and Michigan online sports betting rollouts are coming.

According to Sports Interaction reports, Michigan is about to approve online sports betting. On the other hand, New York lawmakers are working hard to compromise the legalization of online sports betting in the state.

The bad news is that Michigan will not have legal sports betting before the end of 2020. Also, the only option is through tribal casinos in the state. Although regulators wanted to launch online sports betting earlier in December, next month would be the earliest potential rollout. If everything goes according to plan, residents can wager online by the middle of January.

According to bookie tutorials and news sources, the Michigan Gaming Control Board approved 15 provisional licenses to sportsbook operators. That means the regulator has started the process of completing the required compliance inspections with the 15 operators.

Based on political forum posts, the next step is to issue permanent licenses. Then, the MGCB will provide a launch date for the operators. Thus, the launch date can be the same for all operators. It depends on the regulator’s decision.

New York Online Sports Betting

Sports betting in New York means going to an upstate casino. For residents who want to bet online, they need to go to Pennsylvania or New Jersey. However, lawmakers are pushing for online sports betting as a new source of income for the state.

At present, New York is facing a deficit of $15 billion. It is looking for new sources of money. Thus, lawmakers are discussing the possibility of online legal sports betting in the state. Senator Joseph Addabbo Jr. wants to include the legalization within the revenue bill.
