Milwaukee Approves Potawatomi Sportsbook in Casinos

The Forest County Potawatomi Community reached a deal with Milwaukee State. As a result, players can wager at Potawatomi sportsbook in casinos later this year.

An official statement from Governor Tony Evers’ office announced a compact amendment approved by both parties. It would go to the US Department of Interior for a review. The amendment doesn’t require additional county or state approvals as sportsbook pay per head reports.

With endorsement presently allowed for sports wagering, the tribe reported Friday that it intends to construct a sports betting facility before the current year’s over at Potawatomi Hotel and Casino in Milwaukee.

Potawatomi Sportsbook in Casinos

At the Metropolitan Milwaukee Association of Commerce’s All-Member Meeting in late November, Potawatomi Hotel and Casino CEO and GM Dominic Ortiz said the tribe intends to put $150 million in Milwaukee. However, they didn’t give any additional info. Also, it was unclear if the amount already included the construction of the proposed sportsbook.

According to a political forum, the compact amendment extends Potawatomi’s current compact with Milwaukee to 2061. The compact amendment is an easy way to open a sportsbook for the tribe.

The current compact expects Potawatomi to yearly compensation the state 6.5 percent of the net win for their enormous gambling club in Milwaukee and a sliding size of up to 5 percent of the net win for their casino in Wisconsin.

George Ermert, a representative for the Forest County Potawatomi, affirmed Friday there could be no changes to the current compact besides expanding its length.

He said the new games wagering setting would expand the current inn and club, not a new scene.
