According to SportsBettingSolutionAsia.com sources, the next phase of the process will be on June 15. That’s when candidates for Ohio’s three licenses can apply for permits from the Ohio Casino Control Commission.
Political news reports indicate Type A licenses are for mobile and online wagering. Type B licenses are for physical sportsbooks. Lastly, Type C licenses are for sports wagering lottery kiosks, which can be set in locations with existing liquor licenses.
Columbus Blue Jackets, Cincinnati Bengals, Cleveland Browns, and other pro athletics groups support legal sports betting in the state. In addition, they want to apply for sports wagering licenses.
The application window will likewise be available to management service providers. They are firms that operate sports betting platforms, such as DraftKings and FanDuel.
The Ohio Lottery Commission will supervise the Type C licensees. They can start applying for licenses on July 15.
Franks said potential permit holders could apply later. However, they must apply inside these windows to comply with the January 1 deadline.
During this time, the commission will lead record verifications, confirm compliance paperwork, and test out gear.
After a couple of years of discussions, Ohio legislators legalized sports wagering in December 2021.
