Michigan Online Sportsbook to Launch Before 2020 Ends
Michigan online sportsbook might go live in December. It was almost a year after Governor Gretchen Whitmer signed Bill 4916 that made sports betting legal in the state. It allowed land-based sportsbooks within the casinos in Detroit and tribal casinos.
Also, HB 4916 makes online gambling legal that include mobile sportsbooks and internet casinos. A year after their approval, online sportsbooks are finally going to launch. State Senator Pete Lucido said that the Joint Committee on Administrative Rules approved online gambling rules and regulations on December 1.
Senator Lucido added lawmakers worked to bring online gambling to the state. Also, he said that it was long overdue as other states are already enjoying the benefits of online sports betting and casinos.

According to sportsbook software reports, Michigan has many coronavirus patients. The number of cases made the governor force casino operators close land-based casinos. Greektown, Motorcity, and MGM Grand Detroit to close last November 18. Also, the governor directed the three casinos to remain closed until December 9.
