North Carolina’s sports betting proposal authorizes internet sports gambling on professional, college, and other sports. The Lottery Commission can grant up to 12 licenses for operators to take online sports bets for any adult resident in North Carolina.

Additionally, eight facilities across North Carolina could operate a sportsbook under the bill. They are PNC Arena, WakeMed Soccer Park, Bank of America Stadium, Spectrum Center, Charlotte Motor Speedway, Sedgefield Country Club, Quail Hollow Country Club, and North Wilkesboro Speedway.

Each venue could collaborate with one mobile provider, leaving at least four licenses for carriers without in-state partners.

Operators would be charged an 18 percent tax on gross gaming income. In addition, the law would not enable corporations to deduct the cost of marketing or incentives commonly used to attract people to join. Projections predict North Carolina might earn $100 million in tax income by the 2027-28 fiscal year, as per the state’s fiscal research division. According to forecasts, more than $6.6 billion would be bet in North Carolina by the third year of legalization.
