Oregon Sportsbook Misses Scheduled Launch Date
The Oregon Lottery announced that it will not be able to launch its online sports betting app in time for the start of the NFL season. Lottery officials are still testing the Oregon sportsbook platform to ensure it works properly.
In addition, they are testing the ability of the lottery to handle clients who want to place their bets on sports. Officials told gambling news reporters that they will also conduct security testing on a later date.
The timeline for the launch of Oregon sportsbook app will be one to two weeks delayed. Known as the Oregon Lottery Scoreboard, it will allow players to bet on almost all pro sports including the NFL, MLB, NHL, NBA, tennis, soccer, MMA, and more. However, betting on college games are not allowed.
Oregon Sportsbook Options
According to political news reports, betting options include single-game bets, parlay, and live betting. In addition, players must be at least 21 years old and have a Social Security card to register.
You can only use the sports betting app in Oregon, and must not be on tribal lands. You can create an account via the official website or the mobile app. Also, you can deposit funds and withdraw winnings through both channels.
Bookie pay per head solution providers learned that the second phase of the launch will include the retail locations. The Oregon Lottery signed a deal with SBTech to provide the sports betting platform.
Many people raised concerns in a political forum about Oregon Lottery’s partnership with SBTech. They questioned why online sports betting goes live first before physical locations. Local bars and restaurant owners said that bettors might not go to their establishments if mobile sports betting comes first.
When Oregon Lottery was about to award the contract to SBTech, Scientific Games fought the decision. They accused state officials of awarding the deal before completing background checks on the company. Also, other sportsbook pay per head software providers echoed the same sentiments.
